Red currants cake with meringues/ Ríbezľový koláč s bezé

This recipe is from my mom, who makes this cake every summer when red currants are ripen in her garden. However, I have changed it a little: I replaced butter, white sugar and 4 eggs in dough for only 2 egg yolks, grapeseed oil instead of butter and cane sugar. Thus, the cake from such a dough is healthier and tastier.

I found this recipe in a Burda fashion magazine for a quick preparation of the peach pie in the microwave. I have, however, changed it a little ;  I baked it in a regular oven,  instead of refined sugar I used cane sugar and the grape seed oil  replaced the butter.

Couscous is a traditional food throughout the North African cuisine. Couscous is very quick to prepare by steaming. It is an alternative to pasta and rice, made from semolina and is served with meat or fish.

Grapes smoothie/ Hroznové smoothie

Ingredients (2 portions) :

1/2 banana
200 g green grapes (seedless)
1 kiwi
350 g plain yogurt
½ teaspoon cinnamon

Raspberry smoothie/ Malinové smoothie

Ingredients (2 portions) :

1 banana
100-150 g raspberries
3-5 strawberries
150 g plain yogurt
2 tablespoon soy powder
½ teaspoon cinnamon
100 ml milk

Antioxidant blueberry smoothie/ Čučoriedkové smoothie

Ingredients (2 portions) :

1 banana
100-150 g blueberries
5 strawberries
150 g plain yogurt
2 tablespoon coconut milk
½ teaspoon cinnamon
100 ml milk

Spanakopita (Spinach Pie)/ Špenátový koláč

Spanakopita is a Greek pastry eaten as a snack. Spinach is extremely rich in antioxidants, vitamin A, C, E, K, B-complex vitamins, especially high in lutein, minerals including zinc, selenium and iron, omega-3 fatty acids and proteins (from Wikipedia). Porridge from leguminous plants tasted with smoked bacon/ Kaša z Hŕstky s údenou slaninou

"Hŕstka (Handful)" is the mixture of eight leguminous plants, yellow peas, green peas, medium lentils, red lentils, beans, pearl white beans, medium colored beans, adzuki beans, mung beans. Peas contain fiber, minerals, vitamins with antioxidant properties and lutein necessary for healthy vision.

BRYNDZA - Sheep cheese spread with chives and red pepper/ Nátierka z bryndze s pažitkou a červenou paprikou

Traditional sheep cheese - BRYNDZA - is a soft salted, fermented sheep cheese produced from raw, unpasteurized sheep's milk on sheep farms in the mountains or in bryndza-plants. It is prepared in Eastern Europe, especially in Slovakia, and its production dates back to the 18th century. Bryndza has medicinal properties, which have been clinically proven. It has about twice the amount of calcium than cow's milk, of a higher absorbency, and therefore, favorably influences osteoporosis.

Pesto from Bear's Garlic - Pesto z cesnaku medvedieho - Pesto à l'ail des bois


Bear's Garlic (Allium ursinum L.) has a great therapeutic potential and has even more remedial  effects than Garlic. Growing up in April and May, sometimes earlier, leaves are harvested before flowering. Is suitable for the spring cleaning treatment, bowel disease, the treatment of chronic skin diseases, prevents arteriosclerosis of blood vessels, high blood pressure, and heart diseases (Source: Maria Treben - Health from God's Pharmacy). It is also used to prepare delicious dishes. One of them is pesto, which recipe I read in newspapers and then I slightly modified it.

Light blueberry gateau / Ľahká čučoriedková torta

Gateaux are small pieces of art and the light blueberry gateau is prepared from cottage cheese, whipping cream and fruits. I have reduced the sugar in it, and instead I used a fruit juice. It is suitable as a light dessert that does not burden the organism, even suitable for a family event.

Torty sú malé umelecké diela a táto torta je navyše pripravená z tvarohu, smotany a ovocia. Zredukovala som v nej cukor a namiesto neho som použila ovocnú šťavu. Je vhodný ako ľahký dezert ktorý nezaťažuje organizmus, vhodný ako darček pre rodinnú udalosť.

Chocolate Raisins Baklava Rolls - Čokoládovo hrozienková baklava

Baklava is a popular sweet, rich pastry very enjoyed with a cup of coffee. Due to its ingredients - walnuts, pistachios, almonds, honey, and oriental spices, which are sources of omega-3 fatty acids and antioxidants, baklava is beneficial for health mainly against the heart disease.

It is believed that Baklava came from the Middle East and Mediterranean region. There are many baklava recipes available, which vary with different regions. The following one, I have changed a little from the original recipe found at makinglifedelicious.

Baklava je populárne sladké a sýte pečivo, veľmi chutné so šálkou kávy. Vzhľadom k jeho zložkám - vlašské orechy, pistácie, mandle, med a orientálne korenia, ktoré sú zdrojom omega-3 mastných kyselín a antioxidantov, baklava je prospešná pre zdravie, najmä pri srdcovocievnych ochoreniach.
